Historic materials are usually delicate and fragile. Consequently, they must be cleaned and repaired with great care.

Unfortunately, many materials and methods used to clean and repair objects in the past have not stood the test of time. Inappropriate materials and methods can also cause immediate and permanent damage to objects.
